A few weeks ago these beauties hit my inbox from the wonderful Benjamin Stuart Photography. We were lucky enough to both be involved in Natasha and Sam’s romantic country wedding at Combe Manor in Hungerford, Berkshire. I think you’ll agree Benjamin has captured our flowers beautifully and the images really are a feast for the eyes.
We were lucky enough to deliver Natasha’s bridal bouquet to her at Combe Manor, it has to be one of my favourite parts as a florist. Suddenly this wedding bouquet, which you’ve spent months planning, writing about, tweaking until its perfect is delivered to the Bride. All that love and emotion we have put into creating the wedding bouquet then takes on a whole new meaning as she walks down the aisle.
Natasha and Sam tied the knot in late May, its such a gorgeous time for flowers, with some of my all time favourite blooms in abundance. I literally cannot get enough of sweet peas during the summer months, and for me they are the most perfect wedding flower. Having scented items (unless you are suddenly going to be struck down with a major allergy) should be something top of your bridal agenda. There is something completely magical about the power of smell. Who wouldn’t want to be reminded of their big day when they smell the delicate scent of sweet peas in the future.
All the flowers were designed to compliment a soft romantic yet rustic theme. Combe Manor is set in the most idyllic Berkshire countryside one could wish for, and the reception barn is really something else. With bags of character from the hanging murals to big black barn doors, the space really suits some light, dreamy flowers to compliment the drama.
Natasha and Sam tied the knot at St Swithun’s Church next to Combe Manor, with this beautiful archway reaching high into the rafters. Filled with tons of scented foliage, as well as seasonal stocks, daisies and roses, the arch really brought the space alive. I love the idea of an internal archway too, and then it can be enjoyed throughout the service.
The tables were adorned with rustic matt zinc jugs each holding chic country hand-tied bouquets. These were filled with sweet peas, alchemilla mollis, scented stocks, Sweet Avalanche roses, daisies and lots of scented foliage.
Thank you so much to Benjamin Stuart for sharing the love with these wonderful photographs, I think you’ll agree he’s one to watch in 2014/2015. We can’t wait to work with you again.
We have a little obsession with anything green and as a continuing trend for 2014, mint tones perfectly suit spring/summer weddings. If you want to update this look, combine shiny metallic silvers, burnt bronze tones and a myriad of emeralds, sage grees and deeper leafy tones for an elegant, up-to-date flapper inspired wedding day.
For me capturing the colour green is all about textures, tints and tones. Gather lots of different foliages, using handfuls of eucalyptus (try populus, nicholi, cinerea and baby blue) combine with dusty millar, flowing winter jasmine (or as a summer alternative clematis would work wonderfully) and hellebores for a striking, natural look.
If your after the glitz and glam, keep your flowers simple, again lots of foliage combined with soft domes of ivory ranunculus. This style would work perfectly next to a detailed flapper style dress or the gorgeous Vera Wang number featured above.
Weddings are all about YOUR detailing. Every little bit you add transforms the flowers, the venue … everything into YOUR day and not the normal wedding. Try adding detailing to your bouquet; I love the sequinned ribbons you get in most haberdashery stores, how wonderful do they look tied around a bouquet for a glitzy streamer look!

Jo and Nuzrul tied the knot at The Elephant Hotel in Pangbourne back in late October. I have to admit, its one of my favourite times of year for wedding flowers. All the gorgeous early autumn berries are still around and the winter foliage is just making its first appearance. Arrange all the gorgeous greens with dusky roses, deeper red dahlias, berried and for me, you have the perfect late autumn bouquet.

Jo’s bouquet may well be one of my favourites of the year, I love the little splattering of rosehips!
Adding more depth and tying in Nuzrul’s burgundy tie, the table centres had punchy red dahlias entwined within the Amnesia roses and foliage. The thing that sums up autumn flowers for me is all the beautiful textures from the foliage. In the table centres we used dusty millar which has the most splendid leaf formation, texture and colour. Its already big news in the wedding flower world and combined beautifully with every tone.
Simple hand-tied bouquets were placed within vases for the table centres. Although I love elaborate table centres from a creative stance, I have to say these practical arrangements are gorgeous, and your guests can take home a beautiful bouquet to enjoy whilst your on honeymoon.
Nathalie and Neil tied the knot at The Aviator in Farnborough. If you haven’t visited this hotel before, you must! Its absolutely stunning, with unusual views across the airfield!
Nathalie wanted to blend the formal surroundings with a more relaxed country vibe throughout the bouquets and venue flowers. I think its a look that really works, especially when the ceremony took place within a picturesque old church.

Nathalie was keen to have lots of scent in her bouquet, and we focused on the amazing scented and flowering herbs that are available throughout July, August and September. Flowering mint is a complete favourite of mine and a scent I find incredibly calming, perfect for a bridal bouquet.
Small vases were filled with scabiosa, dahlias, delphiniums, ammi Graceland, flowering mint, oregano, eucalyptus, veronica and nigella. Each place setting had a little setting of astrantia, scented myrtle and veronica.
Contrast to the sleek setting, mix and match vases scattered throughout the table balancing the soft country feel with the surroundings at The Aviator.
After setting up our wedding flowers at The Aviator we managed to sneak a few snaps of the amazing staircase that runs over all 4 floors of the hotel. What an amazing view!
Harriet, Romain and their families first came to see Green Parlour in the depths of winter. Talking through the garden feel they wanted to create and the summer blooms weaving throughout all the arrangements felt like a lifetime away! But finally the time came and below is the outcome of many month planning.
We loved that each arrangement had its own personality, but still following a colour palette theme. This really works for a natural relaxed vibe. Just because a flower is in your bridal bouquet, it doesn’t have to dictate everything!

With the ceremony taking place at The Olde Bell in Hurley, we went all out with the country theme, mix and match vases adorned the tables and large milk churns filled with the most spectacular hydrangeas framed the ceremony table perfectly.
Weeping pear trees marked the entrance and helped transport you into the garden theme of the day.

Nancy and Andrew came to see us with bags of amazing ideas for their DIY garden themed wedding. Set in the grounds of Wasing Park’s Secret Garden they really wanted to take inspiration from the gorgeous surroundings.

Emily and Andrew first came to see us over two years ago, whilst this is super organized, it made the whole process of choosing the right flowers for them completely stress free. We had time to source, suggest and show them lots of different items, ideas and of course flowers!
They chose to get married at The Elephant Hotel in Pangbourne for its truly relaxed vibe and super chilled out atmosphere. The perfect setting for the winter wonderland wedding of their dreams.
The final touches to the ceremony room included these rather ‘WOW’ candelabras, which I found just days before the wedding. A rushed email to Emily and Andrew with attached pictures and they loved them too.
The flowers were designed to create a wonderfully romantic setting, with an undertone of 1940’s vintage glamour. Completely up my street!
White Akito roses, were combined with berried ivy, viburnum berries, steely green eucalyptus, scented freesias, Avalanche roses and hints of Amnesia roses to create luxurious, opulent table centres. We all absolutely fell in love with the large silver pedestal bowls and decided they were a must!
Cakes always amaze me, and Emily and Andrew had spared no expense with this drop-dead-I-want cake made by Peggy Porschen, who travelled all the way to Pangbourne to install it herself.
Emily’s wedding bouquet contained Akito roses, Amnesia roses, Majolika spray roses, berried ivy, viburnum berries, scented eucalyptus and thistles as a nod to her Scottish roots.
The bridesmaid’s bouquets were filled with Akito roses, Majolika spray roses, viburnum berries, berried ivy, eucalyptus and scented freesias. The perfect accompaniment to Emily’s wedding bouquet.
I can’t sign off without mentioning their wedding favours. Macaroons are possibly my favourite sweet treat of all time; macaroons from Ladurée are to die for.
Zoë first contacted us almost a year ago to start thinking about the flowers for her wedding taking place in The Black Barn, Rushall Farm. The barn is stunning, set in the middle of the Berkshire countryside with fields as far as you can see. With this stunning backdrop, we took full inspiration from the barns surroundings when designing the bridal bouquet and table centres for the wedding.
Zoë’s wedding bouquet was filled with English grown roses, scented stocks, sweet peas, lisianthus and hints of scented Baby Blue eucalyptus, it certainly smelt amazing!
Collections of old glass jars filled the long banqueting tables in The Black Barn, each filled with a miniature hand-tie of flowers. Queen Anne’s Lace is complimented with scented stocks, English grown roses, garden sedum, alchemilla mollis, eucalyptus, mint and agapanthus to create these wild, garden inspired wedding table centres.
The final touches involved winding ivy and fairy lights around the rustic centre pillars in the barn.
I am such a white rose girl and they are the perfect for a classical, elegant wedding. I think my favourite thing of all has to be spray roses, I am a complete sucker for them especially when you get these gorgeous green buds poking out between the Akito roses. We filled this wedding bouquet with yummy scented freesias and had one happy bride! hurray!
