Winter wedding flowers at Wasing Park

Rowena and Josh chose to have their New Years Eve wedding at Wasing Park and what a day it was. I love flowering up at Wasing Park - it has a wonderfully laid back, yet sophisticated atmosphere. Perfect for a New Years Eve wedding celebration. The brief was my ideal for that time of year - crisp whites, fresh but with a hint of winter. The statement florals here were all about adding height to the barn - you cannot beat candelabras and layers upon layers of candles for the ultimate New Years Eve sparkle.

Autumn wedding flowers at Dorney Court

Dorney Court has it all - old grandeur with the beautiful character house and the wonderful sympathetically restored barn. I've dressed it a few times with flowers, but I wanted to share with you Hannah's rich autumn wedding flowers. Dorney Court is perfect if you want a blank canvas for your big day, that you can really make you're own. I worked with Hannah to transform the space for her early autumn wedding. As ever, for me, its all about having a few statement flower displays to transform the space.

If you are getting married at Templars Barn, it can be hard to visualise just how gorgeous the space can be when you first view the venue. The thing I love most about Templars Barn is it really is a venue that you can make your own. Becca and Jonny did just that with their late summer wedding. Filling the space with statement lighting, personal touches and of course a bit of flower magic. With a classic palette of creams whites and greens, we brought a little slice of the outside in. Its all about using lots of seasonal foliage and flowers to transform the space.

an image of a spring bridal bouquet with muscari, daffodils and tulips against a grey tin background

Spring is a time for awakening and new beginnings and that alone should convince you that a spring wedding is one of the most magical times to get married. Not only is it the perfect season to tie the knot, it's also the season when the flower world starts to bloom. You'll have an abundance of Spring flowers to choose from - daffodils, flowering viburnum, hyacinths and roses to name a few.

Whilst I love pastel flowers as this time of year, it's also a time of bold colour. Don't be afraid to mix in some stronger pops of pink, coral or yellow for a real celebration of spring. I always start planning spring weddings with the bridal bouquet, all the other arrangements then spin off this. Your bridal bouquet is the most important bunch of flowers you'll ever carry - it needs to be knock out beautiful. In this post I'll be sharing some of my favoruite Spring wedding bouquets.

Carlie and her man got married at the end of May – for me a time when the gardens are bursting with summer colour. The Chelsea Flower Show has graced our screens and everyone who's anyone is thinking about flowers! If I were to marry again, May would be my month. The peonies are just popping up, delphiniums are in full swing and sweet peas have burst onto the scene with all the scent and wow you’d expect.

Carlie’s brief was a perfect cacophony of colour – blues, whites, oranges and just a smidge of zesty green. The vibe – country garden, just picked and everything tied with raffia. Boy oh boy is it the perfect time of year to carry off this palette!

We just provided Carlie’s personal flowers – a gorgeous bouquet for her to hold, 2 for her maids and some bouts for the men and women. I love doing personal flowers, it sets the scene for the whole wedding and if budget is tight this is the perfect way to make your bucks go that little bit further. If you're under tight budget constraints then the one area I’d splurge would be to get a florist to do my personals - then rope in a load of family and friends for your tables and the other decoration.

Carlie’s bouquet contained; delphinium, stocks, thistles, tenecetum, alchemilla mollis, butterfly flower, sweet peas, veronica, campanula all tied off with a pretty raffia bow.

The maid’s had a more simple affair, with blues and whites to tie in with their strong navy blue dresses. For these, we used stocks, delphiniums, scilla, alchemilla mollis, the subtlest touch of orange butterfly flower and white sweet peas in abundance. Again these were both tied in a raffia bow to give a really rustic vibe to the day.

I’ve ranted and raved about men’s boutonnieres until the cows come home so I’m not going to get on my high horse about them just now. All you need to know is if you want to give your wedding a true country vibe you absolutely MUST go for mismatched boutonnieres, preferably tied with string or ribbon, rather than those funny twirly pigs tales that some florists seem to love. Carlie took my advice (a wise girl!) and so each of the men’s pins was different with varying tints and tones to tie everything together.
